About Angela
Photography means more to me than just taking a picture. When I was a young girl, I had so many stories in my head. I was constantly frustrated when I couldn't unleash those stories on paper. Those stories and dreams soon slipped away until I discovered my camera and the many stories which I could tell through it. I realized that photography is a very powerful art. A picture can be worth more than a thousand words. I feel like I have been very blessed with the talent to be able to see and capture life in a unique way. I can now tell those stories through my camera.Besides photography, what do I do? I love being a wife and mom! Love it! I love to sing, play the piano, hike, read good books, watch romantic chick-flicks, travel, go on scary roller coasters, and talk on the phone with friends. I love cuddling in a warm blanket just to watch the rain or snow from inside my house. My favorite activity is going on a long walk, holding hands with my wonderful husband, John, just to talk. It was his encouragement and support which led me to fulfill my dreams and become a photographer.
So that's me! I hope that on top of receiving beautiful pictures of your loved ones, you can discover another friend as well.
Your Session: What to Expect . . .
Expect to have fun. Expect the unexpected. Expect to be you!Newborns
Newborn sessions ALWAYS take longer! Plan for 4 hours because babies this young may need time to adjust to the surroundings before they will sleep. We will need to stop to feed, change the diaper, and then it's time to feed again. We'll quickly take some pictures while baby is sleeping. Then Daddy will need to leave to change his outfit because the baby peed on him. It happens. Just expect it with newborns. This is how ALL of the newborn sessions go (unless we get lucky). Don't worry . . . I do lots of laundry loads to ensure that it's clean for the next newborn session. A newborn session is between 0-3 weeks old. The ideal age is 6-7 days old while they are still sleepy. I am very flexible for these sessions, but please try to contact me before your baby is born if you are interested in a session. For clothing, your baby will look best in his/her birthday suit, but you may also hats, blankets, etc. for a couple pictures. Parents, please bring black shirts. The parents' clothing should be classy and simple as to not distract from the main focus: your baby.
Child Session
Smiles and giggles on children are lots of fun. But don't be surprised if you fall in love with the pictures that show us who they really are. The real moments in life can be just as captivating and beautiful. But don't worry; there are always plenty of smiles and giggles to capture as well which also show us who your child truly is!Your child should feel comfortable and relaxed. We don't want them to feel pressured to be a certain way. I will spend some time playing with them, so they feel comfortable with me.
Because we want your child to feel comfortable, you may choose to have your photo session take place in your own home! Other options include an outdoor session, or in my home studio in Pleasant Grove; your choice completely.
Please do not bring your child when they are sick. It's not fair to them to expect a good photo shoot. Also if they are unusually grumpy and uncooperative, we can just reschedule for the next week at no extra charge. We want them to feel like themselves so that you'll get the pictures you want. I encourage you to bring along sentimental and beloved items such as a teddy bear or a favorite blankie, they add feeling and spirit to your children's photographs.
Senior Session
This session is all about YOU! We want these pictures to shine with your beauty, individuality, and spunky personality! There are no limits to clothes changes, so bring some fun things to wear. You know what you like to wear, but I can offer suggestions.
Bring your pet, car, hobbies, anything that highlights your interests.
We can do up to 2 different locations. Let me know if you want the urban or rural feel to your pictures, and we'll find some fun unique locations.
Family Session
This session includes 1-2 hours of group pictures, one or two individual shots of each person, and pictures which catch moments of interaction between your family members. Please review the Family Connections Gallery so you can get a feel for my family style. I do not focus as much on the traditional side of family portraiture, but rather the fun connections which make your family unique and individual.Yes, we will work on getting one or two casual traditional pictures with everyone smiling at the camera so you can put it on your Christmas card, but this is not my only goal during the photo shoot. You are investing in my vision to capture the connections between your family. If you are looking for mostly traditional photography, I will gladly recommend you to another local photographer.
I want you to see and fall in love with the pictures which are real and personal to your family. Play together. Laugh together. Tickle each other. Mostly, just have fun with one another.
The location is your choice. Maybe choose a place which is special to your family and makes you happy. Outdoors is always fun and beautiful, but if you prefer your home, it can definitely work as a great location. If you don't have a preference, I will give you some location ideas.
What to Wear
Something: Unique. Personal. Natural.I suggest a combination of simple and neutral clothing with added accessories and layers with vibrant colors. Adding fun colorful scarves, shoes, hats, jewelry, etc. will help make the picture stand out. Logos and prints should not be the basis for your session wardrobe, but for individual pictures, it may be great for a couple pictures to bring out your personality.
For children I recommend bringing hats, jackets, tutus, headbands, etc. anything which will help bring out the personality of your child. Textured clothing such as denims, corduroys, khakis, knits, and neutral colors make great bases for your clothing.
Bare feet and jeans are fun for family photos and give a natural classic look that is timeless.
During family sessions, I recommend coordinating colors and outfits. Solid colors without stripes, plaids, etc. are best while doing large groups. Everyone does not need to be in the same sort of outfit, but the main key is to coordinate with everyone to make sure the outfits are similarly toned, so that your family photographs will be stunning!
